Oviedo hosted a professional event that brought together some of the leading figures in Spain’s tourism industry to discover what the city offers as a destination for congresses, meetings and corporate events.
The presentation took place at the NH Oviedo Principado, an Oviedo Congresos partner establishment, as part of the 26th Travel Advisors Guild Gathering of Friends, held in Asturias for the first time. The session brought together around 60 professionals specialising in event organisation and sales, who gained first-hand insight into the destination’s strengths and the opportunities it offers for hosting professional meetings.
During the event, Oviedo was presented as a city designed around events, highlighting the close proximity of congress venues, hotels, restaurants and specialised services—a feature that simplifies event logistics and improves the experience for both organisers and attendees.
The presentation also showcased the city’s healthcare, scientific and university ecosystem, its established calendar of national congresses, and the experience of local businesses in organising professional gatherings of different formats.
The event provided an opportunity to engage directly with agencies and professionals who influence destination selection, share the destination’s progress, and showcase the work carried out by Oviedo Congresos together with hotels, venues, suppliers and institutions to facilitate the organisation of events in the city.
Events of this kind form part of the destination’s promotional strategy, which focuses on introducing Oviedo’s offering to the leading players in the MICE industry and generating new opportunities to attract congresses, conventions and professional meetings.
